Job Summary
Western Construction of Lewiston, Inc. is seeking a motivated and experienced Rock Crushing Assistant Foreman to assist in overseeing daily crushing and aggregate production operations. This position works directly with the Crushing Foreman to coordinate crews, monitor production, maintain safe operations, and ensure crushing equipment is operating efficiently.
The ideal candidate has experience working around portable crushing plants, conveyors, screens, loaders, excavators, and aggregate production equipment. This individual should possess strong leadership skills, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Crushing Foreman in supervising daily crushing plant operations.
- Coordinate crushing crew members to maintain safe and efficient production.
- Monitor production rates and help meet daily and weekly production goals.
- Perform routine plant inspections and report equipment issues promptly.
- Assist with crusher setup, tear-down, and relocation between job sites.
- Work with loader, excavator, and haul truck operators to maintain continuous material flow.
- Monitor product quality and ensure materials meet project specifications.
- Promote and enforce all company safety policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe crushing plant.
- Assist with preventive maintenance, belt changes, screen changes, liner replacements, and general plant upkeep.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, mechanics, operators, and truck drivers.
- Complete daily production reports and equipment inspections.
- Train and mentor crew members while promoting teamwork and accountability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in rock crushing, aggregate production, mining, quarry, or heavy civil construction preferred.
- Previous leadership experience as a Lead, Assistant Foreman, or Foreman is preferred.
- Knowledge of jaw crushers, cone crushers, impact crushers, screens, conveyors, and aggregate processing equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment issues.
- Experience working around loaders, excavators, haul trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Ability to read and follow production schedules and safety procedures.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL is preferred but not required.
- MSHA certification is preferred but not required (training may be provided).
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to climb ladders, platforms, and crushing equipment safely.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work around dust, noise, and heavy equipment.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and travel to project sites as needed.
