Duties
- Assist surgeon during surgical procedures by providing necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Prepare rooms for surgery, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile
- Maintain aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures to prevent infections
- Monitor patients' vital signs during surgery and communicate any changes to the surgical team
- Apply dressings as directed by the surgeon
- Assist with patients before, during, and after surgery
- Operate and maintain surgical equipment and instruments
- Clean and restock operating rooms after each procedure
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Surgical Assistant or in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Familiarity with surgical procedures and techniques
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems (e.g., EZDerm) to document patient information
- Strong analytical skills to assess patient conditions and respond appropriately during surgery
- Ability to maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic technique
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform tasks such as suturing and assisting with patient positioning
