Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting pharmacists in delivering high-quality patient care within a hospital setting. This position requires proficiency in medical terminology, knowledge of pharmacy operations, and the ability to perform critical care tasks, including IV infusion and medication administration.
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to prepare IV medications and other sterile products.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions and addressing concerns regarding medications.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care and medication management.
- Participate in inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and stocking pharmaceuticals.
- Conduct routine checks on medication storage areas to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Stay informed about new medications, therapies, and pharmacy practices to enhance patient care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to pharmacy and patient care.
- Experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting is an advantage.
- Knowledge of critical care protocols and IV infusion practices is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and teamwork.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Familiarity with medication administration processes and pharmacy software systems.
