Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their insurance information, and assist with appointment scheduling to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Collect and organize medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems to document patient interactions, update billing information, and manage medical documentation efficiently.
- Process health insurance claims using third-party billing procedures, ensuring timely submission and follow-up on denials or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with medical billing teams to facilitate revenue cycle management by verifying insurance coverage, understanding health insurance claim processing guidelines, and resolving billing issues.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and medical billing software to support accurate coding for inpatient services and outpatient procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office setting with familiarity in medical coding (ICD-9/10, CPT), billing software, and EMR/EHR systems.
- Strong understanding of health insurance policies, claim processing procedures, and revenue cycle management principles.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and coding guidelines for inpatient and outpatient services.
- Ability to navigate electronic health record systems efficiently for billing and coding purposes.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and billing processes.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with patients, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and internal teams.
