Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly, including digital X-ray machines and 3D scanners.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures such as restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care.
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols aligned with HIPAA and OSHA standards.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accurate documentation of medical and dental histories, vital signs, and treatment notes.
- Educate patients on oral health, post-operative care, and dental procedures, fostering a positive and informative experience.
- Handle administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and assisting the dental receptionist with patient check-in and check-out processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, adhering to infection control standards and proper disposal of medical waste.
- Support the dental team with medical coding, medical documentation, and updating medical records to ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
- Assist with the use of advanced dental technology, including 3D scanners and medical imaging tools, to enhance diagnostic accuracy.
- Monitor and record vital signs and medical history, especially in pediatric patients, to ensure safety during dental procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training to stay current with dental terminology, new procedures, and emerging technologies in general dentistry and specialized fields like prosthodontics and endodontics.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques, including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control practices.
- Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic, with a solid understanding of medical documentation and records management.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment, including X-ray machines and 3D scanners, with a focus on safety and accuracy.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
- Competence in taking vital signs and understanding medical terminology relevant to dental and pediatric dentistry.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients and collaborate effectively with the dental team.
- Knowledge of medical coding and insurance verification processes.
- Ability to maintain a sterile environment, practicing aseptic techniques and infection control standards.
- Experience working in a fast-paced dental clinic, with a focus on pediatric dentistry and general dentistry procedures.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, including scheduling, medical records, and inventory.
