Role Overview
Academian is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME Reviewer) for Secondary Health Science Education to support the development, review, and validation of Career and Technical Education (CTE) course content throughout the development lifecycle.
This role will support the following courses:
- Middle School Health Science
The SME will provide subject matter expertise to ensure content accuracy, instructional quality, age appropriateness, and alignment with secondary health science standards, healthcare industry practices, and career readiness expectations.
The SME will work closely with Instructional Designers, content developers, project teams, and client stakeholders to review learning materials, validate content, and provide recommendations that support engaging and effective learning experiences for middle school learners.
Subject Area Expertise
The ideal SME should have experience in health science education, healthcare, allied health, public health, nursing, medical sciences, or related fields.
The SME should be able to provide guidance and validate content related to:
- Human anatomy and physiology
- Body systems and their functions
- Medical terminology
- Principles of health science
- Disease prevention and infection control
- Nutrition and human health
- Safety practices and emergency response
- Healthcare ethics and professionalism
- Health promotion and public health
- Healthcare careers and career pathways
- Basic patient care concepts and clinical skills awareness
- Health science technologies and emerging healthcare trends
Key Responsibilities
- Review the Course Design Document (CDD), storyboards, and instructional materials.
- Validate entrepreneurship, business fundamentals, financial literacy, marketing, innovation, and career readiness content.
- Review module and end-of-course assessments for alignment and rigor.
- Provide actionable feedback, recommend improvements, and identify content gaps.
- Participate in project meetings and support quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Science, Nursing, Public Health, Biology, Allied Health, Healthcare Administration, Exercise Science, or a related field; relevant advanced industry certification may also be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in health science education, healthcare, allied health, public health, nursing, clinical practice, or related disciplines.
- Experience supporting secondary education, Career and Technical Education (CTE), health science programs, or healthcare workforce initiatives preferred.
- Strong understanding of foundational health science concepts, healthcare systems, and career pathways.
- Strong analytical, communication, and content review skills.
- Ability to provide constructive, actionable feedback within established timelines.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills required to collaborate effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
Engagement
- Project Duration: Approximately 6 months.
- Commitment: 2–3 hours per day during active review phases.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
