Inspired by coastal cuisine around the world, is a seaside tavern located within the town center of Alys Beach, which is situated along Florida’s scenic Highway 30A. Here, local and seasonal ingredients drive the inspiration for both the food and beverage program. Guests have a choice between an 18-seat bar, a 12-seat raw bar, or the 120-seat dining room. The fresh and vibrant flavors of The CITIZEN will be showcased in a variety of menu items, many of which will be cooked over a wood-fired hearth, offering a nod to timeless coastal, Southern fare.
The Host is the first and last person each guest sees; you have a genuine smile with a warm hello and goodbye. You are always on top of the organization for table times and ensuring each guest’s seating specifications are met (if possible, of course). Duties to include, but not limited to:
- Responsible for managing the waitlist, taking reservations, and collecting guest information through the online system, Resy
- Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival
- When possible, open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant
- Provide guests with an accurate estimated wait time
- Accommodate special seating requests whenever possible
- Relay messages to servers, server assistants, and managers as needed
- Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return
- Perform daily cleaning tasks to facilitate the overall maintenance of the restaurant
Minimum Requirements:
- Previous restaurant experience a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- A passion for providing customers with high-quality service
- Ability to multitask and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working with computers
- Willingness to work at peak hours, which may include evenings, holidays, and weekends
- Ability to model and act in accordance with The Citizen guiding principles
Physical Requirements:
- Constant standing/walking
- Occasional stooping or kneeling
- Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps
- Constant computer/POS Register usage
- Frequent, continual, intermittent flexing or rotation of the wrist(s) and spine
- Constant reaching, turning, and performing precision work around the host station
- Constant receiving detailed information through oral communication
- Constant talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas using the spoken word
