Mid‑Iowa Cooperative and Mid‑Iowa Milling serve our communities through seventeen grain facilities and seven feed mill locations, offering diverse career opportunities across our operations. Positions include grain settlement coordinators, grain originators, crop insurance and brokerage support, regional managers overseeing grain operations, accounting, and IT, as well as feed mill operators, assistants, delivery drivers, and CDL truck drivers. Position Summary:
The Seasonal Grain Operations & Scale position supports daily grain handling activities at the Cedar Falls, IA location during peak seasons. This role is responsible for efficiently assisting with grain operations, including loading and unloading grain, monitoring grain quality, operating scale systems, and completing daily reports. The position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and a team-oriented mindset to help ensure safe, accurate, and efficient operations in a fast-paced seasonal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the face of Mid-Iowa Cooperative by providing service to producers, drivers, customers, fostering trust, loyalty, and a positive customer experience at every interaction.
- Load and unload grain trucks in a safe and efficient manner
- Monitor and assess grain quality, including sampling and grading
- Identify and report any quality issues or discrepancies
- Operate scale systems to accurately weigh inbound and outbound loads
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility and work areas
- Follow all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment
- Assist with general administrative and operational tasks as needed
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers regarding workflow and issues
Required Qualifications:
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
· Strong communication, problem‑solving skills, and customer service.
· Must possess a valid driver's license.
· Must have access to and regularly use an active email account.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
· Works in both a professional office environment and an AG (autogenous) mill or plant setting, requiring regular presence in production areas; may require occasional extended hours to meet deadlines.
· Requires prolonged periods of sitting, working at a computer, and frequent use of standard office equipment.
· May involve light physical activity such as standing, walking, and occasionally lifting office supplies (typically up to 70 lbs.).
· Exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and varying temperatures in mill areas; required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots.
· Must be able to move safely throughout production areas, including stairs and uneven surfaces, while managing a fast-paced workload with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
