The Controller is responsible for the oversight of all financial activities at the property, to include budgeting, revenue reports, disbursement of funds, managing financial risk, implementing and improving financial processes. Responsible for the leadership, direction and coordination of Accounting, Revenue Audit, Cage & Count and Purchasing functions. Ensure all accounting activity related to the property are error-free and in compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations.

Provide leadership and oversight to enable successful daily operations of the department, to include delegating and assigning work.

Responsible for leading and managing a team, to include hiring, onboarding, training, setting performance expectations, conducting evaluations, coaching, and managing employee performance/conduct concerns as needed.

Responsible for motivating and mentoring staff, promoting collaboration and teamwork, with the goal of fostering a team-first culture that best enables the success of both the individual and team.

Responsible for staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage based on business needs, managing time-off requests, and timely review/approval of payroll to ensure accurate pay of each team member.

Provides oversight, leadership and direction of Accounting, Cage, Count, and Purchasing functions and staff.

Ensures company accounting, cage and count, revenue audit and purchasing policies and procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles and are consistent with state gaming laws and regulations and company internal controls.

Establishes and ensures internal control procedures and structures to safeguard company assets.

Oversees the preparation of daily revenue and other financial reports and their comparison against budget and forecast projections and previous year’s results.

Maintains accounting system, legitimacy of assets, and proper accounting and inventory of assets.

Plans, directs and organizes accurate and timely reporting of forecasting and financial information.

Prepares and maintains property operating and capital budgets, both monthly and annual.

Coordinates and manages the month-end close process through financial statement preparation and analysis.

Reviews and approves financial transactions and reconciliations, and fluctuations in revenues, expenses and inventory to ensure integrity of the operation.
- Reviews and approves AP check runs and transfer of funds.

Ensures compliance and timely payment of all gaming taxes and regulatory fees, sales & use tax, and other reporting requirements.

Coordinates and manages year-end audit and quarterly reviews, including work paper preparation.
- Establishes and implements short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
- Works with regulatory agencies to obtain appropriate permits and approvals required for the business.

Provides ad-hoc management reporting and participates in in ad-hoc finance projects as directed.

May serve periodically as the Manager on Duty (MOD), responsible for the direct supervision of all Casino operations and conduct of Casino employees while on duty.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related degree

CPA preferred

Minimum of 3 years prior experience of accounting department leadership, preferably in the gaming industry.

Experience with and knowledge of applicable federal/state/local reporting requirements.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals at all levels of organization.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Strong computer skills including Excel and accounting software.

Must be able to obtain a Level 1 Nebraska Gaming License
