Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our vibrant dental team. Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient workflow and patient comfort
- Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, placement of temporary restorations, and other delegated clinical tasks in accordance with state regulations and clinic policies
- Take and develop high-quality dental x-rays, including digital radiography and 3D scans, adhering to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques
- Manage dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and maintain clinical cleanliness following infection control standards
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while ensuring compliance with HIPAA privacy policies
- Support dental reception duties by verifying patient information, updating medical histories, and scheduling appointments efficiently
- Assist with vital signs measurement and medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient assessments
Qualifications
- Valid Expanded Functions Dental Assistant certification or license as per state requirements
- Proven experience in general dentistry with a focus on pediatric dentistry preferred
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental terminology, and anatomy knowledge
- Skilled in operating EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic is a plus
- Strong understanding of infection prevention protocols, sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection control standards
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and medical documentation practices
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely and accurately; experience with digital imaging and 3D scanners is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and clinical staff
- Commitment to maintaining clinical confidentiality policies and adhering to all infection control guidelines
