American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring at least 2 years of ED experience, with night shift scheduling and regional floating requirements.

Work in a 44-bed community hospital Emergency Department with 10 ED bays
-
Helipad on site for incoming transfers
-
Patient population includes COPD, CHF, chest pain, MI, N-STEMI, stroke, TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, and minor trauma
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity; CNA ratio of 1:10

12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required

Floating required throughout Region 2, which includes multiple facilities and freestanding EDs, as well as the Central Division — candidates unwilling to float should not apply

EMR: Epic

IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips

Bedside and central telemetry monitoring available

No on-call or call-back requirements

Active NC or compact RN license required
-
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI; TNCC preferred

Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required

Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drips, vent management, chest tubes, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, and ESI assessments
-
Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Facility is not trauma designated, not a chest pain center, and not a stroke center; affiliated with community schools of nursing only

Department support includes CNAs, a charge nurse, an IV/VAT team (ancillary, not always in house), respiratory therapy (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), and an ED physician team

Orientation includes general new employee orientation plus 2 days of departmental training
-
Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
-
Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; additional time may be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met

Must be separated from any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility for at least 1 year following permanent employment before being considered

First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
