Central Tube & Bar is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Technician to support our manufacturing operations by ensuring products meet customer specifications and quality standards. This position is responsible for performing inspections, conducting measurements, supporting quality initiatives, assisting with PPAP documentation, and operating FARO measurement equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, experience with quality systems, and the ability to work effectively with production, engineering, and customers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform in-process, final, and first article inspections to verify compliance with customer specifications and internal quality standards.
· Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and customer requirements.
· Utilize precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
· Operate and maintain FARO measurement equipment to perform dimensional inspections and generate inspection reports.
· Analyze inspection results and communicate findings to production and engineering teams.
· Support the development, submission, and maintenance of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation.
· Assist with control plans, process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, and other quality-related documentation.
· Investigate nonconforming products and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
· Maintain inspection records and quality documentation in accordance with company and customer requirements.
· Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Monitor production processes to identify opportunities for quality improvements.
· Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Customer Service teams to resolve quality concerns.
· Support customer audits and supplier quality activities as needed.
· Ensure compliance with company safety policies and quality management system requirements.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification preferred.
· Minimum of 2 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
· Experience reading blueprints and engineering drawings.
· Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) preferred.
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Required Experience
· Experience using precision measuring equipment.
· Experience working with quality documentation and inspection records.
· Experience supporting or completing PPAPs.
· Experience operating or willingness to learn FARO Arm/CMM equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with ISO 9001
· Experience in metal fabrication, tube manufacturing, or contract manufacturing environments.
· Knowledge of corrective action processes, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
· Previous experience with customer-specific quality requirements.
