About the role
The Director of Commercial Excellence serves as the bridge between field execution and commercial strategy at CG Oncology. This is a dedicated, newly structured role, repurposed from a planned Sr. Manager position and elevated to Director level, designed to embed operational rigor across the commercial organization. Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Analytics & Operations, this role is headcount- and budget-neutral, with a target start of August 2026.
As CG Oncology scales its commercial footprint and prepares for future pipeline launches, this role provides the field organization with dedicated operational leadership.
Strategy Execution & Field Enablement

Translate commercial go-to-market and growth strategies into field-ready operating plans, milestones, and KPIs; maintain a live roadmap of priorities.

Partner with Sales and Marketing leadership to define priorities, drive execution, and ensure accountability across field initiatives.

Lead annual and quarterly planning for field-facing functions, including capacity modeling, resource allocation, and target-setting.

Identify and resolve process gaps, execution risks, and inefficiencies across the commercial revenue engine.

Continuously evolve enablement programs to support new products, segments, and go-to-market motions.
Sales Planning & Commercial Operations

Lead targeting, territory design, capacity planning, and the annual brand planning operational calendar.

Own the Sales & Marketing operating cadence and revenue performance in partnership with Commercial Operations and Finance.

Lead development of incentive compensation (IC) strategy in partnership with the field leadership; manage IC budgets and provide decision support on plan adjustments.

Partner to build and maintain CRM ecosystem, including configuration, targeting, call planning, and field reporting.

Partner to maintain field executive dashboards and insights to support data-driven decision-making across the Commercial Leadership Team.

Select, contract, and manage commercial operations vendors; own QBR oversight, SLA accountability, and budget management.

Partner with Sales Training and Enablement on onboarding, ongoing training, and role-based skill development.

Measure effectiveness of programs, resources, and tools through performance metrics and business outcomes.

Ensure consistent rollout and adoption of sales processes, tools, and messaging across the field organization.
Field Liaison & Communications

Serve as the unified voice for field teams, lead regional meetings, field communications, and HQ-to-field alignment.

Lead strategy, planning, and execution of national and regional meetings; align with cross-functional partners.

Drive consistent adoption of commercial processes, tools, systems, and messaging across the organization.

Partner with Marketing leadership to ensure strategy is pulled through via live and virtual training and field communications.
Cross-functional Operations

Oversee field operations, expense management, and operational budgets; establish expectations and mobilize cross-functional resources.

Partner with Market Access, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Finance, IT, Legal, and Compliance to align commercial operations with enterprise goals.

Develop and propose short- and long-term objectives for the function in accordance with overall Company strategies.

Plan and manage budget proposals and approved budgets in accordance with the Company's strategic and operating plans and Finance policies.

Act in accordance with Company policies, including the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics; ensure policies are understood and followed by direct reports.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's Degree required; advanced degree in business or a related field a plus.

Greenfield & Launch experience is a must
-
10+ years of combined pharmaceutical and/or biopharmaceutical marketing, sales, or commercial operations experience.

Demonstrated track record leading high-performing teams within the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry.
-
Experience leading cross-functional projects in a matrix environment, managing large projects involving multiple functions and shared accountabilities.

Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry including product positioning, brand plan development, market research, operations, and launch planning and execution.

Oncology or specialty/rare disease experience strongly preferred; urology or bladder cancer experience a plus.

Approximately 15–20% travel required.
