The Role
The Router Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the performance, workflow, and output of the Router Department. This role focuses on managing machines, processes, scheduling, and communication to ensure the department operates efficiently, produces high-quality components, and meets business objectives.
This is a process-centered role with ownership of the department’s performance rather than a traditional people-management position.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day performance of the Router Department, ensuring jobs are completed accurately, on time, and in alignment with production priorities.
- Plan and coordinate workflow, job sequencing, and machine utilization to maximize efficiency and throughput.
- Oversee CNC router operations, ensuring proper setup, programming alignment, and execution of jobs.
- Monitor department metrics (on-time completion, quality, material usage, labor efficiency) and take corrective action as needed.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to optimize production flow.
- Serve as the primary point of coordination between Router, Production, Pre-press, and Scheduling.
- Maintain and improve standards for quality, consistency, and repeatability across all router operations.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained; coordinate preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues when they arise.
- Support training and cross-training of team members on router equipment and processes.
- Assist with complex setups, challenging jobs, or technical problem-solving when needed.
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety standards within the department.
- Continuously evaluate opportunities to improve tooling, programming, materials usage, and workflow.
Shift
This is Monday-Friday, 8-hour shift occurring during our hours of operation which are 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM. The Team Member’s schedule will be determined and agreed upon by the Team Member and their Manager.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong experience operating CNC routers and working in a manufacturing/production environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage workflows, prioritize tasks, and coordinate across multiple jobs or projects.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- High level of ownership, initiative, and accountability.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating across departments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and CAD/CAM software (EnRoute or similar).
- Understanding of materials, tooling, and machining processes.
- Safety-conscious mindset.
- Forklift experience preferred.

Compensation: Significant Bonus Opportunities
- Monthly bonuses can be earned based on achieving the 95% complete and on time goal as well as properly managing labor and material expenses for gross profit (contribution margin) goals.
- The entire Team has the same goals and if achieved, the monthly bonus is split evenly among all eligible team members.
- Quarterly bonuses are based on going above and beyond for agreed upon contribution margin goals.

Working Conditions: Temperature controlled production environment.
Physical Demands: Physical demands associated with this position include walking, standing for long periods of time, lifting, carrying materials (up to 50 lbs.), bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, stooping, reach overhead, twisting, squatting and /or climbing. Must be able to carry out repetitive motions & substantial movements/ motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must have close visual acuity, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
