Ascent Construction Group is a South Florida-based commercial general contractor specializing in multifamily and commercial construction. Founded in 2024, Ascent has quickly established itself as one of South Florida’s fastest-growing construction companies.
We are seeking an experienced General Superintendent to provide senior field leadership for major commercial construction projects throughout the Miami area. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, this individual will oversee field operations, lead and develop project superintendents and field personnel, and ensure that every assigned project is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest standards of quality.
Based on the size and complexity of Ascent’s active projects, the General Superintendent may lead the field operations of one major project or provide oversight across multiple concurrent projects.
High-rise multifamily experience is mandatory. Candidates must have significant, demonstrated experience leading high-rise multifamily construction projects to be considered for this position.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Development
- Provide overall leadership and direction for field operations across assigned projects.
- Lead, manage, and mentor Senior Superintendents, Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Field Coordinators, Foremen, and other field personnel.
- Establish and enforce clear expectations for jobsite performance, accountability, communication, safety, scheduling, and quality.
- Support the recruitment, evaluation, mentoring, and professional development of field personnel.
- Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
Scheduling, Field Operations, and Coordination
- Drive project schedule performance, milestone completion, and overall production goals.
- Review project schedules, sequencing plans, site logistics, manpower requirements, and recovery strategies.
- Coordinate subcontractors, material deliveries, equipment, site access, temporary facilities, and daily field operations.
- Monitor subcontractor manpower, equipment utilization, field productivity, and overall jobsite performance.
- Coordinate closely with Project Managers regarding procurement, long-lead materials, scheduling, project risks, cost impacts, and issue resolution.
- Identify schedule delays, constructability concerns, coordination conflicts, and field risks before they adversely affect project performance.
- Lead or support weekly planning, scheduling, safety, and subcontractor coordination meetings.
Safety and Quality Compliance
- Maintain strict compliance with OSHA requirements, project-specific safety plans, and Ascent safety standards.
- Ensure that all work complies with contract documents, approved drawings, specifications, applicable building codes, and established quality standards.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and hold field personnel and subcontractors accountable for jobsite safety and quality performance.
Preconstruction and Planning
- Participate in preconstruction planning, constructability reviews, logistics planning, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and project startup activities.
- Provide field expertise during project planning to identify sequencing, access, manpower, logistics, and constructability concerns.
Closeout and Turnover
- Oversee inspections, testing, commissioning support, punch-list completion, project closeout, and final turnover.
- Ensure that incomplete work, deficiencies, and closeout requirements are resolved promptly and properly documented.
Qualifications
- Significant, demonstrated experience leading high-rise multifamily construction projects is required.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive commercial construction field-management experience.
- Proven success leading large, complex commercial projects and multiple field teams.
- Strong knowledge of construction scheduling, sequencing, logistics, site planning, safety, quality control, and project closeout.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop Superintendents and other field leaders.
- Excellent leadership, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal project teams.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and commercial construction safety practices.
- OSHA 30 certification required.
- Ability to read, interpret, and enforce construction drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, and other project requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction-management software.
- Experience with Autodesk Build is preferred.
- Ability to travel between project sites throughout Miami and the South Florida area as required.
