Your Role
The Project Accountant supports assigned project teams by ensuring financial information is accurate, timely, and compliant with contractual and organizational requirements. This role helps maintain project financial health through billing support, cost tracking, documentation, and proactive communication. The ideal candidate is accountable, organized, and proactive, with strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to resolve issues and navigate competing priorities independently. This position directly supports efficient project execution, financial integrity, and positive client and partner relationships.
What You'll Do

Assist with preparation of owner billings and subcontractor invoices to support accurate and timely project cash flow.

Coordinate accounts payable and receivable activities, proactively identifying discrepancies and helping resolve issues impacting payments or collections.

Support job cost tracking, expense coding, and account reconciliation to ensure financial data reflects project performance.

Establish and maintain project financial records.

Monitor subcontractor and vendor compliance requirements such as insurance certificates, lien waivers, and certified payroll.

Serve as a reliable financial support partner to project teams by communicating clearly, responding to questions, and anticipating needs.

Assist with project closeout activities including final billings, reconciliations, and documentation completion.

Prioritize workload effectively, demonstrate critical thinking, and take ownership for delivering accurate results in a deadline-driven environment
Experience
-
Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job cost principles

Experience with construction accounting or project management systems preferred

Helpful to know how to bill on an AIA
Education & Certifications
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or 5 years of equivalent construction accounting experience
Tools & Software

Viewpoint strongly preferred

Experience with GC Pay, Procore, or other Oracle based systems is a plus

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
Work Location, Environment & Travel Requirements

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment where the noise level is usually quiet.
-
If required, the employee may work from a jobsite trailer on occasion or owner-designated office location. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to heavy equipment, jack hammers, pneumatic tools, etc. These sounds can be non-stop throughout the day.

Limited exposure to physical risk.

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands; reach; and stoop or kneel.

Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet

This role may require shifts or extended hours depending on project demands, including evening, nights, and weekends.
