Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Lead Medication Technician/Caregiver to join our dedicated healthcare team. Duties
- Lead medication management by accurately administering prescribed medications using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner while adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical terminology standards.
- Supervise and support caregiving staff in delivering high-quality assistance with daily activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and nutrition.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs, perform catheter care, tube feeding, and other specialized medical procedures with precision and compassion.
- Maintain thorough medical documentation and records of medication administration, patient care activities, and medical history updates in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate closely with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans that address each resident’s physiology knowledge and specific needs.
- Provide training and mentorship to caregiving team members on best practices for assisted living, dementia care, memory care, hospice support, and working with individuals with disabilities.
- Conduct regular assessments of residents’ condition changes related to Alzheimer’s or other cognitive impairments while ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Scheduling and shift coverage.
- Must be available to share on-call coverage.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in assisted living facilities or nursing homes; hospital experience is highly valued.
- Strong working knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with medical office procedures is a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in medication administration, medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, catheter care, tube feeding techniques, and anatomy knowledge.
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in home & community care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards along with excellent medical documentation skills.
- Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining a positive attitude; strong communication skills are essential.
- Must be available to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift as needed.
- Certification as a Medication Technician or similar credential is required; additional certifications in hospice or dementia care are advantageous.
