Project Manager – Civil Construction
Chicago, IL | $120K–$160K | Full Time | Direct Hire
Tired of chasing paperwork instead of running the job? This is a hands-on Project Manager role with an established heavy civil general contractor known for road, bridge, utility, and site work across the greater Chicago area. You'll lead the team from bid to buyout to closeout, with real ownership of schedule, cost, and field coordination, not just a seat at the table.

The work
- Review and interpret drawings and specs across all disciplines
- Build and maintain cost loaded, resource loaded CPM schedules
- Prepare monthly schedule reports, two week look aheads, and narratives
- Track RFIs, change orders, and correspondence through project management software
- Prepare cost reports, labor productivity reports, and monthly payment requisitions
- Review and approve subcontractor and material invoices
- Supervise project engineers and field engineers, coordinate with superintendents
Who we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- 7+ years of heavy civil field experience (roads, bridges, utilities, site work)
- Strong command of Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe
- Primavera P6 experience a plus
- AutoCAD or MicroStation experience a plus
- Comfortable making decisions independently and hitting hard deadlines
