Job Description
Position Title: Lead Preschool Teacher
- Plan both long- and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice, and program philosophy.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to children and assisting staff.
- Encourage assistants to contribute to curriculum planning.
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order.
- Read books to entire classes or to small groups.
- Arrange indoor and outdoor space to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safety.
- Maintain daily open communication with parents.
- Teach proper eating habits and personal hygiene.
- Serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.
- Keep accident reports.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Report any suspected abuse to the Director or Assistant Director.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment.
- Sanitize and clean the play areas, eating areas, and toileting areas daily.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings.
- Supervise assistants, aides, and volunteers in the classroom.
- Keep all appropriate records such as student records, attendance, and time sheets.
- Meet all applicable licensing regulations.
Additional Requirements:
· Mandated reporter training certificate. A certificate must be provided.
· Employees MUST follow procedures for reporting suspected abuse or neglect to local authorities immediately or as soon as practically possible by telephone and submit a written report to Community Care Licensing within 36 hours of receiving the information concerning the incident.
· Background clearance must be maintained for employment with clearances for Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Child Abuse Index (CACI).
- Must have required vaccinations: MMR, TDAP, Influenza and current TB clearance.
· EMSA Certified CPR Training. A certificate must be provided.
· Must have a minimum of 12 Early Childhood units. 18 Early Childhood Units preferred. Candidates without this will not be considered. Transcripts must be provided.
· Compensation will be based on experience and education.
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
