OVERALL PURPOSE
The Staff Accountant is a member of the Sunshine Management Corporation (“SMC”) team integral to the financial health of the Company. Candidate will prepare and analyze Company’s financial records, compile financial statements, review data, and ensure financial compliance. The Staff Accountants is responsible for executing a variety of financial procedures, including month-end and year-end closings, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger entries, forecasting and budgeting. The Staff Accountant will also analyze corporate financial operations to ensure the business is running efficiently.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with some exceptions
- Prepare and analyze financial statements for a variety of residential and commercial properties
- Organize and maintain financial records
- Ensure compliance to current tax and banking statutes
- Reconcile bank statements, research open items, communicate concerns to Controller for timely resolution
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and financial plans for the residential and commercial properties
- Prepare monthly, quarterly or other reports as required for internal and external review
- Have strong knowledge of General Ledger functions
- Conduct cost reduction and revenue enhancement audits as well as analyze expenses
- Prepare for internal and external audits
- Possess strong accounting data entry skills, mathematic proficiency, and knowledge of professional business practices
- Understand the importance of both detail and deadline oriented work flow
- Ability to research and interpret financial data
- Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information with integrity and in the best fiduciary interest of the Company and Clients
- Familiarity with Rent Manager and QuickBooks software
- Strong computer and technology skills in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Preparation of reports, and other related documents as required by the Controller
- Ability to recognize and report compliance issues, areas of vulnerability, and areas of improvement in processes
- Complete various assignments/projects as requested by individual property owners, President and Controller
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable and billing departments.
- Liaison and maintain relationships as needed with Vendors, Insurance Companies, Banks and other related professional associations
- Maintain compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Complete additional skill, customer service, or technological training as required
- Complete other duties as required
MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance
- 2 or more years of accounting experience
- Accounting software experience, property management software experience preferred
- Detailed and Deadline Oriented
- Excellent organizational skills
- Able to work independently and manage time effectively
- Ability to multi-task efficiently
- Ability to work well within a team structure
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients, owners, management, and other professionals

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $47,500.00 - $60,000.00 per year
