Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories, vital signs, and performing basic physical assessments.
- Prepare examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure all medical supplies are stocked and organized for daily use.
- Perform clinical procedures such as phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, and basic wound care under supervision.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of patient encounters, diagnoses (ICD coding), and treatment plans.
- Support patient service activities by answering questions, scheduling appointments, and coordinating follow-up care.
- Handle administrative tasks including medical records management, insurance verification, and processing referrals.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations by adhering to safety protocols, infection control standards, and confidentiality policies.
Experience
- Prior experience in medical office settings with proficiency in medical assisting, administrative support, or related roles.
- Hands-on experience with EHR systems (Electronic Health Records) and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and ICD coding for accurate documentation.
- Inpatient or outpatient experience in specialties such as dermatology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine is highly desirable.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR is required; additional certifications like phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus.
- Experience working in trauma centers (Level I or Level II), urgent care clinics, or hospital environments enhances your ability to thrive in high-pressure situations.
- Strong patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatric patients.
