Performs a broad range of structural, facility and grounds maintenance duties relevant to the construction, general repair and maintenance of assigned county property, structures and equipment.
Education, Training, and Experience: High school diploma or GED supplemented by four (4) years of construction experience that provides the ability to perform skilled to semi-skilled tasks in the trade; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Licenses and/or Certifications: Requires a valid driver license. May require a Class “B” commercial driver license (“CDL”), depending on assignment.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to operate various manual, electrical and gas-powered equipment and tools. Must be able to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Must be able to traverse irregular or uneven terrain frequently. Requires prolonged periods of standing/walking. Requires the ability to position self for work in confined areas or work overhead. Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, and scaffolding. Must be able to work for sustained periods of exposure to outside atmospheric conditions. Physical demands are in excess of sedentary work.

Must be able to explain procedures and to give, receive, and follow oral and/or written instructions. Must be able to speak with clarity, and to articulate information to others.

Numerical Aptitude: Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide; determine weight; calculate decimals and percentages; compute ratio and proportion
Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergencies or tight deadlines. Requires the ability to exercise consistent tact and courtesy when in frequent contact with various professionals, county staff, and the general public.
