Lab Technician
Job Summary
Inner Basin Environmental is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our environmental laboratory team. This position supports the analysis of drinking water and wastewater samples for public water systems throughout Northern Arizona.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and eager to learn. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in laboratory science, environmental compliance, or the water and wastewater industry. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Perform microbiological and basic chemistry analyses on drinking water and wastewater samples.
- Prepare, calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and established laboratory protocols.
- Perform quality control and quality assurance checks in accordance with the laboratory Quality Assurance Plan.
- Record, review, and report analytical results accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain laboratory documentation and records to ensure compliance with Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) regulations.
- Assist with inventory management by monitoring laboratory supplies and ordering materials as needed.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding sample submissions and laboratory services when needed.
- Assist with general laboratory operations and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; coursework or a degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous laboratory experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and typing.
- Ability to follow written procedures precisely and maintain accurate documentation.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new laboratory techniques.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
