Compton Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part-time faculty positions to teach courses with emphasis in Part-Time Instructor - Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.

Compton College is part of the Compton Community College District, which encompasses an area of about 29 square miles, making educational services available to nearly 300,000 residents of Compton, Lynwood, Paramount and Willowbrook, as well as portions of Athens, Bellflower, Carson, Downey, Dominguez, Lakewood, Long Beach and South Gate. About 290 full- and part-time faculty teach more than 40 degree programs and 35 certificate programs.
Students have access to excellent academic offerings, career training programs, and support services including counseling, tutoring and mentoring programs. The Compton College campus includes 54 buildings across 88 acres. In November 2002, the district won voter approval of Measure CC, authorizing the issuance of $100 million in general obligation bonds to upgrade classrooms, labs, infrastructure, and instructional equipment, while making much-needed health and safety repairs and energy-efficiency improvements. In November 2014, district voters approved Measure C, a $100 million facilities bond designed to make technology and safety upgrades campuswide.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and 5 years full-time equivalent experience in the discipline: OR
Associate's degree and 6 years full-time equivalent experience in the discipline: OR
The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualifications as stated above must complete the supplemental page of the district application and explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR
Valid California Community College Credential in appropriate subject.
Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds of college students.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Community college teaching experience;
Demonstrated to develop a variety of effective teaching techniques and assessment methods;
Ability to engage student interest to support a variety of learning styles;
Ability to promote the use of instructional technology in curriculum delivery
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Incorporated within one or more of the previously mentioned essential functions of this job description are essential physical requirements. The chart below indicates the percentage of time spent on each of the following essential physical requirements.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Employees work mainly in an outdoor environment and is occasionally exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, and varying weather conditions. Employees may interact with upset individuals in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
HOURLY RANGE: $47.36 - $82.90 (depending upon education and experience)
Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District.

Part time teaching assignment(s).
