Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of meals according to established recipes and menu plans
- Handle food with care, following strict safety standards in production and food handling procedures
- Slice, chop, and portion ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques to ensure consistency and quality
- Support menu planning efforts by suggesting creative ideas and ensuring ingredient availability
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering to safety standards in production
- Serve meals efficiently to customers or clients while maintaining high standards of food presentation and service
- Follow all food safety protocols, including proper storage, sanitation practices, and temperature controls during meal preparation
Requirements
- Prior experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Experience working in restaurant kitchens or the food industry is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety management and handling procedures is essential
- Strong culinary skills including knife techniques, slicing methods, and food preparation expertise
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Familiarity with catering, serving, and food service operations is a plus
- Commitment to upholding safety standards in all aspects of kitchen production and food handling
