Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide exceptional support and care to individuals in various settings, including home health, assisted living, nursing homes, and community-based programs. Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Support medication administration following care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary.
- Provide transportation assistance for appointments, errands, or social activities to promote community engagement.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Document patient progress, update care plans regularly, and communicate effectively with clients’ families or team members about their well-being.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and dementia or Alzheimer’s care is essential.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders is advantageous.
- Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional training in hospice care or hospice support is a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform manual handling tasks such as patient transfers using Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to support residents’ personal needs compassionately and professionally.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality of patient information at all times.
