American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience, with night shift scheduling and regional floating requirements.

Work in a 16-bed Emergency Department at a 109-licensed-bed community hospital (non-trauma, non-teaching) designated as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center
-
Treats both pediatric and adult patients with diagnoses including COPD, CHF, chest pain, MI, N-STEMI, stroke/TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmias, uncontrolled DM, and minor trauma

Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5, based on acuity

EMR: Epic (experience required)

Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, and bedside/central telemetry monitoring

12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required

Floating required to regional facilities within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, any freestanding ED within the region, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) — candidates must be willing to float or should not apply

No on-call or call-back requirements

Active NC or compact RN license required

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI

TNCC preferred

Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
General ED skillset required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, vent management, chest tube management, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, and ESI assessments

Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Department support includes CNAs, a charge nurse (with or without patient assignment), an IV/VAT team (ancillary, not in house daily), RT (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), and an ED physician team
-
Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
