Cook – Hotel Food & Beverage Operations
LOCATION: Aloft Cupertino | 10165 N De Anza Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014
SCHEDULE: Must be able to work Mondays - Fridays
PAY: Starting $21 per hour

SUMMARY: We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and motivated Cook to support our hotel Food & Beverage operations. This role is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items, maintaining food quality and presentation standards, supporting kitchen operations, and ensuring all food safety and sanitation standards are consistently met. This position is ideal for hospitality and culinary professionals who enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen environment and take pride in delivering exceptional food and guest experiences.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Set up and stock cooking stations with ingredients, supplies, and equipment needed for service.
- Prepare ingredients, sauces, proteins, vegetables, and other menu components for daily operations.
- Ensure all food is prepared accurately, consistently, and in a timely manner during service.
- Plate and garnish menu items according to company and brand presentation standards.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, temperatures, and portion control throughout each shift.
- Assist with prep work and support overall kitchen operations before, during, and after service.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout kitchen, prep, storage, and work areas.
- Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed to support efficient operations.
- Properly store food products, rotate inventory using FIFO practices, and maintain labeling and temperature standards.
- Assist with receiving deliveries, organizing inventory, and restocking kitchen supplies.
- Follow all food safety procedures, sanitation standards, and health department regulations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional kitchen environment while supporting overall hotel Food & Beverage operations.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED:
- Past food prep experience required.
- Must be Food Handler certified.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation methods, kitchen equipment, and knife skills.
- Ability to prepare multiple menu items efficiently while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Ability to work with speed, accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of food safety procedures, sanitation practices, and kitchen hygiene standards.
- Positive attitude with excellent teamwork, communication, and reliability.
- ServSafe Certification preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary education or training is a plus.
- Dependable attendance, punctuality, and professionalism required.
- ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift; Able to frequently bend, reach, stoop, lift, carry, push, or pull kitchen supplies, food products, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation; Able to safely use kitchen equipment, knives, ovens, slicers, and other food preparation tools; Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, and refrigeration areas.
