Join a well-established and rapidly growing industrial manufacturing and heavy fabrication organization as the Vice President of Commercial Strategy & Business Development. This executive leadership role is responsible for shaping and executing the company’s commercial growth strategy, expanding its presence across key industrial, infrastructure, government, and construction markets. Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive commercial and business development strategies to drive organizational growth.
- Identify and pursue new markets, customers, partnerships, and revenue opportunities aligned with company capabilities.
- Establish measurable commercial objectives, growth targets, and performance metrics.
- Analyze market trends, competitive conditions, and customer requirements to inform strategic decisions.
- Expand the organization’s presence within targeted industrial, infrastructure, construction, and government markets.
- Lead and strengthen business development and sales efforts, including managing a robust sales pipeline from opportunity identification through contract award.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key customers, strategic partners, contractors, and government agencies.
- Oversee the development of proposals, presentations, capture strategies, and business development initiatives.
- Collaborate with estimating, project management, engineering, operations, and executive leadership to ensure commercially viable opportunities are properly evaluated and pursued.
- Develop and expand relationships within federal, state, and local government markets, including identifying and supporting capture strategies for significant government and infrastructure opportunities.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for strategic commercial relationships and ensure customer expectations are aligned with operational capabilities and contractual requirements.
- Partner with senior leadership to establish long-term business objectives and growth strategies.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement within the commercial organization.
- Develop, mentor, and lead high-performing business development and sales professionals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in business development, sales, commercial strategy, or executive commercial leadership.
- Proven success leading revenue growth and developing new business within industrial manufacturing, heavy fabrication, construction, engineering, infrastructure, or related industries.
- Experience managing complex B2B sales cycles and high-value contracts.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain C-suite and executive-level customer relationships.
- Experience with government contracting, federal agencies, infrastructure programs, or major government contractors strongly preferred.
- Experience with organizations serving USACE, DOT, federal agencies, transportation, infrastructure, or related markets is highly desirable.
- Proven experience developing and managing sales pipelines, forecasts, capture strategies, and commercial KPIs.
- Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to evaluate opportunities based on revenue potential, profitability, risk, and strategic fit.
- Demonstrated leadership experience building, developing, and managing commercial teams.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to operate effectively at both the strategic and tactical levels.
- Entrepreneurial, growth-oriented, and comfortable operating in an industrial environment.
- Experienced navigating complex, long-cycle sales environments and building high-performing commercial organizations.
