What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a motivated and experienced GSRP Lead Teacher to lead a high-quality preschool classroom and work collaboratively with children, families, teaching staff, center leadership, and our GSRP partners.
The ideal candidate is nurturing, dependable, organized, knowledgeable about child development, and committed to providing children with meaningful learning experiences every day.
Responsibilities
As a GSRP Lead Teacher, responsibilities include:
- Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences
- Implement the approved GSRP curriculum with fidelity
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
- Provide active supervision and maintain required teacher-to-child ratios
- Conduct child observations, developmental assessments, and required documentation
- Use assessment data to individualize learning experiences
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and build strong partnerships with families
- Support children's social-emotional development through positive guidance and redirection
- Collaborate effectively with your teaching team, administration, and program partners
- Maintain required GSRP and child care licensing documentation
- Participate in professional development, coaching, training, and continuous quality improvement
- Maintain classroom cleanliness, sanitation, and organization
- Communicate professionally with children, families, coworkers, and leadership
Qualifications
Candidates must meet Michigan GSRP Lead Teacher qualification requirements and applicable Michigan child care licensing requirements.
Candidates should have education in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field and experience working in an early childhood classroom.
GSRP or preschool teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Candidates must also:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practice
- Be dependable, punctual, professional, and consistent
- Be comfortable leading and collaborating as part of a teaching team
- Be organized and able to complete required documentation accurately and on time
- Be open to coaching, feedback, and continued professional growth
- Successfully complete all required background checks
- Maintain required CPR, First Aid, and health and safety certifications
- Complete required annual professional development
- Be physically able to participate in the daily activities of an early childhood classroom, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, sitting on the floor, and lifting children or classroom materials as needed
