Under the direction of the Unit Director and Program Director, the Youth Development Professional (YDP) will plan and lead fun, educational, structured and age-appropriate small group activities for children ages 5-18.
Essential Functions:
- Plan and supervise activities for children ages 5-18 (using BGCA national curricula where appropriate) that are:
- Safe
- Fun
- Educational
- Structured
- Age appropriate
- Provide positive guidance and discipline for youth in assigned program areas.
- Oversee small group supplies and equipment (requesting additional supplies and maintenance when needed).
- Perform daily cleaning duties of assigned Club areas.
- Accurately track participation of members in programs as well as program outcomes.
- Enthusiastically complete other duties as assigned.
- attend and participate in all BGCI trainings (in person and online), and team meetings.
Run all kitchen and food service operations of the Club in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and grant requirements.
- Maintain accurate and timely paper records regarding kitchen operations in accordance with BGCI policies and procedures and applicable requirements.
- Clean kitchen/lunchroom area daily in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Supervise children and other staff members in the kitchen/lunchroom area to ensure that operations are efficient, orderly and in accordance with regulations.
- Provide positive guidance and discipline for youth in assigned areas.
- Enthusiastically complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education degree or significant experience working with children ages 5-18, especially in small group activities.
Ability to serve as a role model for Club members.
Experience maintaining order among groups of children.
Ability to serve as a role model for Club members.
Physical Demands:
Standing/walking for long periods of time.
Lifting, reaching, balancing
Extensive physical movement while supervising, demonstrating and/or participating in physical activities with children.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $11.00 - $14.00 per hour
