Club Nova in Carrboro, North Carolina, is seeking an enthusiastic individual for the position of part-time evening van driver to work directly with adults living with serious mental illness. The driver will provide transportation, with organization's vehicle, across Orange County and most concentrated in Chapel Hill and Carrboro.
The candidate will have at minimum a high school diploma, at least 25 years in age (due to insurance restrictions), clean driving record, and a desire to work within the Clubhouse Model with an understanding of and interest in mental illness. Some work will be required with maintaining the transportation log and keeping the House aware of van maintenance issues. As a Clubhouse community, strong relationships are at the core of what we accomplish.
We are seeking a lively individual, with demonstrated ability to quickly establish solid relationships and engage members. Candidates must have CPR and First Aid certification; this training can be provided upon hire. Ability to lift up to 40lbs is required.
Essential Job Functions
1. Transports members using Club Nova vehicles.
2. Works with other drivers to ensure the creation and updating of the transportation log, including directions to new members' houses.
3. Attends the monthly driver meeting.
4. Informs supervisor of vehicle maintenance issues, and/or takes the vehicles in for repair.
5. Assumes responsibility for the locking of the vans so that member sensitive crises plans are not negligently handled.
6. Consistently works to maintain the cleanliness of the vans.
7. Ensures the safety of all members in transport.
8. Must complete necessary training (provided by Club Nova) in a timely manner
9. Ensures vehicles are sufficiently fueled before being parked
10. Will report any damage or accident immediately to their supervisor and follow the Accident Policy and Procedure
11. Consistently check to make sure the First Aid kits, road hazard devices, and fire extinguishers are present and secured at all times during transportation routes.
12. Works with other drivers to ensure coverage of holiday/social shifts
Clubhouse Hours:
Monday 9:00am-5:00pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
Thursday 9:00am-8:00pm
Saturday 11:00am-4:00pm (May vary occasionally)
Open all holidays for a 5 hour social, generally 11:00am-4:00pm
Expected hours for this position:
Morning Shift:
Mondays: 7am-9:30am
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: 7am-9:30am
Thursdays:7am-9:30am (hours can vary)
Some Saturdays; usually 9am-6pm, driving hours vary (All drivers pick from available hours in a monthly meeting)
Holidays; usually 9am-6pm, driving hours vary (All drivers pick from available hours in a monthly meeting)
Mandatory Driver's Meeting once a month on Mondays, 4:30-5pm.
Evening Shift:
Mondays: 4:45-7pm
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: 4:45-7pm
Thursdays: 7:45-9:30pm (hours can vary)
Some Saturdays; usually 9am-6pm, driving hours vary (All drivers pick from available hours in a monthly meeting)
Holidays; usually 9am-6pm, driving hours vary (All drivers pick from available hours in a monthly meeting)
Mandatory Driver's Meeting once a month on Mondays, 5:30-6pm.
This position is long term, part time: mostly 15-20 hours per week, $18 per hour.
Additional hours may be obtained during the work-ordered day (9am-5pm) via helping transport members during working hours, maintaining vehicles, and completing trainings.
