Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Controls Engineer to support manufacturing operations and new product launches within a fast-paced production environment. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining manufacturing network systems, PLC connectivity, MES/SCADA platforms, data collection systems, and Industry 4.0 solutions. The Controls Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to support capital projects from planning through Start of Production (SOP), ensuring reliable system integration, equipment connectivity, and manufacturing data visibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and support shop-floor manufacturing network systems, including Andon, MES, and MOM integrations.
- Configure and troubleshoot PLC communications, primarily Mitsubishi PLCs.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing data collection and analytics systems.
- Support SCADA, HMI, and visualization systems for production line monitoring and reporting.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco industrial networks and switches.
- Setup, configure, and support manufacturing servers and network infrastructure.
- Monitor installation activities, identify issues, and collaborate with construction and engineering teams to resolve them.
- Support project schedules, equipment integration, and production launch activities.
- Collaborate with domestic and international teams to achieve project milestones.
- Promote workplace safety and support Toyota's "Zero Incident" culture.
- Stay current with Industry 4.0 technologies and manufacturing best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or 5+ years of equivalent manufacturing experience.
- Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and modifications.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, Oracle, or other database systems.
- Experience with Cisco networking and machine network maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols, including:
- Ethernet/IP
- Ethernet TCP
- OPC-UA
- CC-Link
- Modbus
- RFID
- RS232/RS485
- FL-Net
- SLMP
- Experience with MES, SCADA, HMI, or manufacturing visualization systems.
- Ability to support weekends, off-shifts, holidays, and annual shutdown periods.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mitsubishi PLC programming experience.
- Toyopuc PLC programming experience.
- Experience with SCADA systems, Ignition, or Kepware.
- MES implementation and support experience.
- Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, or other analytics tools.
- Functional Safety certification.
- Automotive, battery manufacturing, or Toyota production environment experience.
- Familiarity with Toyota specifications and TBP Panel Certification.
