Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff during weekend shifts, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards
- Oversee patient assessments, vital signs, and medical documentation to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Manage medication administration, IV infusion procedures, catheter care, and other complex clinical tasks with precision and attention to detail
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, and EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate record-keeping
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and case managers to facilitate discharge planning and patient care continuity
- Provide mentorship and supervision to nursing staff, fostering a positive team environment focused on excellent patient care
- Respond promptly to emergency situations such as airway management or acute pain episodes, utilizing ICU or Level I Trauma Center experience when needed
Skills
- Extensive critical care experience including ICU, emergency medicine, or Level I Trauma Center settings
- Proficiency with EMR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; strong medical documentation skills
- Knowledge of ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, utilization review, and utilization management processes
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques across diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal ventilator management, dementia care, and behavioral health
- Demonstrated supervisory experience in nursing management roles with team leadership capabilities
- Expertise in medical procedures such as phlebotomy, sterile processing, suturing, spinal tap, gastrostomy tube feeding, and ventilator management
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and NCQA standards for quality assurance
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology principles related to acute care settings; ability to perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations
- Excellent communication skills for working effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays; experience in family planning or occupational health is a plus
