Duties/Responsibilities:

Provides support to the Production department while also carrying out Engineering initiatives. Production support includes identifying and troubleshooting issues and serving as the subject matter expert for assigned assets and processes within the plant.

Analyzes equipment, systems, and processes to identify modifications that improve efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs. Implements or assists with the implementation of approved solutions.

Carries out Management of Change (MOC) for applicable plant changes.

Ensures compliance with applicable company and client quality requirements in all assigned programs, functions, products, and areas.

Identifies and reports problems with specific processes or products to the respective teams.

Assists in the development of new methods to improve product quality and process efficacy and efficiency.

Supports new product qualifications as needed, taking handoff from R&D and supervising qualification batches in the Small Commercial Reactor.

Ensures compliance with codes, guidelines, best practices, and policies.

Collaborates with the operations department to identify and troubleshoot problems.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:
-
5–10 years’ experience as a Process, Chemical or Mechanical Engineer, preferably in a production or process area of specialty chemical products.

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.

Experience with Rockwell Automation or other PLC systems is a plus.

Experience with batch processing.

Experience with continuous improvement.
-
Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM).
Physical Requirements:
- Located partially in an office and partially in a chemical plant environment.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
-
Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds and perform squatting and kneeling activities.
The Process Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager or anyone of similar status. The Process Engineer will maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers. The Process Engineer will identify, develop, and implement solutions to continuously improve site safety, process capability, and production volume while maintaining or improving quality standards.
