Geiger & Peters is seeking a CDL Driver to safely transport structural steel products and fabricated materials to customer job sites throughout the region. This role is critical to ensuring on-time deliveries while supporting shipping, yard, and production operations. Most deliveries are local, allowing drivers to return home daily.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CDL driver who enjoys a combination of driving, customer interaction, material handling, and operational support.
What You'll Do
- Safely operate commercial vehicles to transport structural steel and fabricated products.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Verify loads, shipping documentation, and material counts before departure.
- Secure loads using proper tie-down and load securement methods.
- Deliver materials safely and professionally to customers and job sites.
- Maintain delivery records and obtain proof of delivery.
- Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and material handling activities.
- Support shipping, yard, and production operations when not making deliveries.
Qualifications
Required
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Acceptable driving record.
- Ability to operate commercial vehicles and trailers safely.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Preferred
- Tractor-trailer driving experience.
- Experience hauling structural steel, construction materials, or oversized loads.
- Forklift certification or operating experience.
- Overhead crane experience.
- Experience with load securement and shipping documentation.
- Manufacturing, construction, warehouse, or structural steel industry experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, drive, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, bending, climbing, and material handling.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb onto trailers and safely secure loads.
