Indy West Christian School is seeking mature Christian individuals to serve as Substitute Teachers. Substitute teachers play an important role in maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring instructional continuity when regular classroom teachers are absent for a day or extended periods of time.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong Christian testimony, a love for working with children, and the ability to effectively manage a classroom while supporting the mission and values of Christian education.
Required Professional Qualities

A valid and current Substitute Teacher permit

Some college-48 credit hours

Bachelor's degree in education preferred

Strong English verbal and written communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to lead and instruct students of all ages

General knowledge of several subjects

Essential Job Functions - Accountabilities

Follow lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students

Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment

Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student

Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground and in the cafeteria

Take attendance and document daily notes.

Provide in-class assignments based on the available lesson plan

Compile a report for the teacher for when they return
