Iyasare in Berkeley, CA is looking for one host/hostess to join our team. We are located on 1830 Fourth Street. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, ambitious, and hard-working.
Responsibilities:

Welcome guests with a warm, friendly, and professional demeanor upon arrival.
- Manage reservations, waitlists, and walk-in guests using Resy.
- Escort guests to their tables while maintaining an efficient seating rotation.
- Provide accurate wait time estimates and communicate updates to guests.
- Answer phone calls and assist with reservations, guest inquiries, and takeout orders as needed.
- Coordinate with servers and management to optimize table turnover and guest flow.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, entrance, and waiting area.
- Assist guests with special requests and accommodate seating preferences whenever possible.
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house and kitchen teams to ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Monitor dining room activity and adjust seating arrangements to maximize efficiency.
- Address guest concerns professionally and escalate issues to management when appropriate.
- Assist with opening, closing, and side work duties as assigned.
- Uphold the restaurant's standards of hospitality, professionalism, and guest service.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and sanitation guidelines.
Qualifications

Previous host, restaurant, customer service, or hospitality experience preferred.
- Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor with a strong commitment to guest service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain organized and composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong multitasking and time management skills.
- Ability to manage waitlists, reservations, and guest seating efficiently.
- Experience with reservation and POS systems (Toast and Resy) preferred.
- Ability to resolve guest concerns with professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Professional appearance and adherence to company grooming standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively with servers, managers, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth restaurant operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
