Position Summary:
Provides compassionate, specialized in-home support to individuals living with dementia or memory-related conditions, helping them remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes. This role focuses on personalized, non-medical assistance, emotional reassurance, and creating a stable environment that promotes dignity, routine, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support tailored to the unique needs of individuals with dementia and memory loss
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and meal preparation
- Promote safety by monitoring the home environment and reducing fall risks or wandering behaviors
- Offer companionship, emotional support, and meaningful engagement through conversation, activities, and memory-stimulating exercises
- Maintain structured routines to reduce confusion, anxiety, and agitation
- Provide medication reminders (non-administration)
- Observe and report changes in behavior, mood, appetite, mobility, or overall well-being to family members or supervisors
- Assist with light housekeeping, laundry, and maintaining a clean, organized living environment
- Support mobility, transfers, and ambulation as needed
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, or social outings when applicable
- Use de-escalation techniques and redirection strategies during episodes of confusion or distress
Qualifications:
- Experience supporting individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or memory-related conditions preferred
- Strong patience, empathy, and understanding of dementia-related behaviors
- Ability to create calm, structured, and supportive environments
- Excellent communication and observation skills
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license preferred
- Ability to pass background checks and meet agency requirements
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
