CDL Class A Driver / Equipment Operator
SMR Rapid Response is seeking an experienced CDL Class A Driver / Equipment Operator to support our environmental, industrial cleaning, vacuum truck, hydro excavation, waste transport, and emergency response operations.
This position involves operating a variety of heavy-duty commercial vehicles and specialized equipment at customer sites while also assisting with field operations when needed. Equipment may include vacuum trucks, hydro excavation units, roll-off trucks, tanker equipment, and other specialized environmental service vehicles.
This is not strictly a driving position. Our drivers are part of the field team and are expected to assist with equipment setup, cleanup operations, loading and unloading, hose handling, site preparation, and other hands-on duties required to complete the job safely and efficiently.
SMR Rapid Response supports both scheduled projects and emergency response operations, so flexibility and availability are important.

Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles and specialized equipment
- Operate vacuum trucks, hydro excavation equipment, tanker vehicles, roll-off trucks, and other company equipment as assigned
- Assist field crews with environmental cleanup and industrial service projects
- Perform loading and unloading of trucks and equipment
- Set up hoses, pumps, vacuum lines, tools, and other jobsite equipment
- Perform physical labor as needed to complete customer projects
- Maintain accurate driver logs, time records, inspection reports, and other required documentation
- Ensure vehicles are properly placarded and operated in accordance with DOT requirements
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Maintain cleanliness and basic care of company vehicles and equipment
- Follow all federal, state, local, DOT, OSHA, customer, and SMR Rapid Response safety requirements
- Follow company environmental, health, and safety procedures at all times
- Participate in emergency response operations when required
- Assist with environmental remediation, equipment decontamination, spill cleanup, and handling of regulated materials when applicable
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on project needs
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL
- Clean and acceptable driving record
- Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles and heavy equipment
- Ability to perform physical labor associated with environmental and industrial field work
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather and jobsite conditions
- Ability to use mobile devices and electronic reporting systems
- Ability to follow DOT, OSHA, and company safety procedures
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening, drug testing, physical examinations, and other employment requirements
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, travel, and emergency response assignments when necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Tanker endorsement
- Hazmat endorsement
- Previous vacuum truck or hydrovac experience
- Previous environmental services or industrial cleaning experience
- Experience transporting waste or regulated materials
- Experience operating manual transmission commercial vehicles
- Previous construction, industrial, environmental, or manual labor experience
- Experience with emergency spill response or remediation projects
