Position Summary
Water Systems Inc. of West Columbia is seeking a motivated and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of municipal water and wastewater systems, including water distribution systems, sewer collection systems, lift stations, pumps, valves, and related infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on plumbing experience, municipal water system maintenance experience, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs on municipal water and wastewater systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair water and sewer line issues.
- Install, repair, and replace pipes, valves, hydrants, meters, pumps, and related equipment.
- Assist with lift station inspections and maintenance.
- Respond to emergency service calls as needed.
- Operate company vehicles, equipment, and tools safely and responsibly.
- Complete work orders, maintenance records, and inspection reports accurately.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Work with customers, municipalities, and team members in a professional manner.
- Participate in after-hours and on-call rotations as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of plumbing experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of municipal water system maintenance experience.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with municipal wastewater collection systems.
- Experience with lift stations, pumps, and water treatment equipment.
- South Carolina water or wastewater operator certifications.
- CDL license or ability to obtain one.
