Job Overview

Security, Clearance, and Certification Requirements
- U.S. citizenship: Required.
- Secret clearance: Candidates must currently hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance for the duration of the contract.
- Security designation: ADP/IT-II.
- Required investigation: Tier 3.
- Information assurance certification: IAT Level II (CompTIA Security+ CE or another contract-approved equivalent or higher certification).
Required Qualifications
- Relevant experience: Six years of progressive experience in database administration, SQL development, application programming, data integration, or a closely related technical discipline. This requirement applies despite the “Junior” position title.
- Microsoft Dataverse: Hands-on experience with Dataverse tables, relationships, security roles, data management, or system integrations. Power BI alone does not satisfy this requirement.
- SQL and relational databases: Foundational SQL and relational database knowledge, including experience modifying queries, database objects, stored procedures, or database-supported applications.
- Integration and reporting knowledge: Experience integrating Dataverse with SQL databases, Power BI, reporting tools, or enterprise systems; basic data integration, transformation, and validation; knowledge of application design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation; and the ability to understand supported business and functional requirements.
- Database operations and professional skills: Understanding of backup, restoration, security, and disaster recovery; willingness to learn performance tuning, query optimization, and advanced administration; and strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in a related field is desired. Equivalent education, technical training, certifications, or relevant professional experience may be considered, subject to contract requirements.
Detailed Certification, Clearance, and Work Requirements
- ADP/IT-II, Tier 3, and Secret clearance: The candidate must satisfy ADP/IT-II requirements, complete the Tier 3 investigation and adjudication process, and be able to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance for the duration of the contract. U.S. citizenship is required. Candidates must either currently hold a Secret clearance or be eligible to obtain one and must maintain it throughout contract performance.
- IAT Level II certification: The selected candidate must possess or obtain and maintain an approved DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification within the contract-required timeframe. CompTIA Security+ CE or better satisfies this requirement; other IAT Level II or higher certifications may qualify when listed in Section 3.0, Commercial Certificates, of the governing contract or task order.
- Work arrangement: This is a full-time, onsite position in San Antonio, Texas. The candidate must report to the San Antonio worksite; remote-only availability does not qualify.
Full Job Description
The Junior SQL Database Administrator supports database administration and development, Microsoft Dataverse, data integration, reporting, application programming, security, monitoring, backup, and recovery. The role collaborates with senior database administrators, developers, engineers, business intelligence teams, analysts, and Government stakeholders to maintain reliable, secure, and well-documented data environments.
Key Responsibilities
Database Administration and SQL Development
- Assist with database architecture, configuration, administration, maintenance, upgrades, patches, migrations, and configuration changes.
- Develop and maintain schemas, tables, views, indexes, functions, SQL queries, stored procedures, and other database objects.
- Troubleshoot database errors, data inconsistencies, connectivity issues, and database-supported application problems.
- Maintain current documentation for database structures, configurations, procedures, and support activities.
Microsoft Dataverse and Power BI Support
- Configure, administer, and maintain Dataverse environments, tables, columns, relationships, views, business rules, and security roles.
- Support integrations among Dataverse, SQL databases, Power BI, reporting tools, and enterprise systems.
- Support Dataverse migrations, synchronization, transformation, validation, reconciliation, data integrity, permissions, security, governance, and troubleshooting.
Monitoring, Performance, Backup, and Recovery
- Monitor availability, system health, storage, resource utilization, alerts, logs, and performance indicators.
- Assist with execution-plan review, indexing, query optimization, performance tuning, implementation of performance-improvement recommendations, and escalation of advanced issues.
- Support backup, restore, retention, archiving, disposal, disaster recovery, continuity-of-operations, and testing to verify backup completeness and recoverability.
Security, Compliance, and Data Integration
- Implement and support database and Dataverse access controls, roles, permissions, audit records, vulnerability remediation, and security monitoring; review database activity, identify unauthorized access attempts, and escalate potential security concerns.
- Support compliance with applicable Department of Defense cybersecurity, information-assurance, and data-protection requirements.
- Develop or maintain ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines; perform extraction, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and loading activities.
- Develop queries and datasets for reporting and analytics, validate dashboard data against source systems, and assist analysts and developers with data-quality, mapping, and integration issues.
Application Programming and Collaboration
- Analyze business and functional requirements and support application systems analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, implementation, maintenance, and documentation throughout the development lifecycle.
- Modify or expand programs based on technical specifications and established coding, testing, and configuration-management standards.
- Provide database, Dataverse, and data-integration support to application development and reporting teams; participate in technical meetings, design reviews, testing, and troubleshooting sessions; and communicate findings, risks, and recommended actions to senior team members and Government stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server or another enterprise relational database management system.
- Experience with SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Integration Services, or comparable tools.
- Experience developing or maintaining ETL or ELT pipelines.
- Experience with Power BI and Dataverse-based reporting or data solutions.
- Experience with Dataverse environment management, security configuration, data migration, or application lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with execution plans, indexing, query optimization, and database performance monitoring.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense, Defense Health Agency, Military Health System, or other Federal Government systems.
- Experience in regulated, audited, or cybersecurity-focused environments.
- A current IAT Level II certification.
- A current favorable Tier 3 determination or active Secret-level security clearance.
