Job Title: Technical Assistant, Nutrition Services
Position Function: Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Financial Services and Technology Operations, to be responsible for the daily operation of the Point-of-Sale system at schools, assist with staff training as well as various software and hardware systems in the Nutrition Services department, as assigned.
Essential Performance Responsibilities: Point-of-Sale System - Oversee point-of-service accountability systems at all assigned sites where students are served meals including implementation and upgrade assistance, troubleshooting, training, and monitoring
- Coordinate, plan and provide training for POS users
- Provide assistance to POS users regarding the point-of-service accountability system
- Assist with investigation of issues related to student account balances or status changes
- Reviews monthly reports submitted by assigned sites and approves claim information for the Technical Assistant, Finance
- Manage POS users in software
- Initial user setup/communication to new user
- Changes to user setup due to changes in site, role, or employment status
- Assists in the installation and troubleshooting of application upgrades and general software testing
- Troubleshoots hardware and software issues
- Meal Ordering System - Assist with meal ordering system at all sites where students are served meals including implementation, troubleshooting, training, and monitoring
- Coordinate, plan and assist in providing training for Cashiers/Managers regarding entering food orders
- Hardware/Software - Assist with computer, peripheral, and software management at assigned sites where Nutrition Services computers, peripherals and software are in use
- Responsible for installation of software and computer setup for replacement computers and peripherals as needed, due to hardware issues or hardware replacement cycle.
- Responsible for management of annual return of computers.
- Assist with annual check of hardware and upgrade/review of software on each returned computer
- Assist with annual computer and peripheral inventory.
- Provide assistance to district staff and parents related to online meal payment system
- Provide assistance to district staff and parents related to online free and reduced meal benefit application system
- Responsible for maintaining a comprehensive list and email distribution list of Satellite Cashiers/Backups and to provide updates to Supervisors and Assistant Supervisors.
- Assist Supervisors and Assistant Supervisors with technical tasks as assigned by the Supervisor, Financial Services and Technology Operations
- Assist with processing meal benefit applications for Child Nutrition Programs
- Monitor Nutrition Program sites as assigned
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written in order to communicate with others inside and outside of the organization for the purpose of giving and obtaining information
- Ability to communicate effectively with a supervisor when their discretion is needed
- Computer proficiency and the ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Office 365 is preferred. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook proficiency may be determined and validated by testing

Employee Punctuality and Appearance: In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave.
Additional Duties: Perform other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor, Financial Services and Technology Operations.
Equipment: The employee must demonstrate the ability to use various equipment assigned to the job position as needed. This position may require the ability to use iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with USD 259's guidelines for equipment use.
Interrelations: Contact with personnel within the district and with parents and vendors.
Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy. Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues. Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service.
Travel: In-district travel as well as some out-of-district travel is required.
Physical and Mental Demands:
Fine finger manipulation and keyboarding required for computer work
Flexible schedule needed to meet deadlines
Regular attendance required to meet the demands of the position and for effective teamwork
Works in standard school environment as well as in production kitchen environment

Qualification Profile:
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience with Nutrition Services point-of-service accountability system preferred
- Experience with Child Nutrition Program Benefits application process preferred
- Preference may be given to a bilingual speaker
- Experience with district student information system is preferred
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills required (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word) which may be determined and validated by testing
- Intermediate math skills required which may be determined and validated by testing
- Knowledge of and experience with computer hardware and software required
- This position requires a high school diploma or GED
- Must maintain a valid Kansas Driver's License throughout employment
