In this pharmaceutical sales position, you will support our partner in educating healthcare professionals on an innovative cardiovascular therapy used in acute hospital and critical care settings.
This Clinical Sales Specialist role will support the launch of a cardiovascular product in the critical care space. The CSS will engage key stakeholders within complex hospital accounts, institutional systems, and integrated delivery networks (IDNs), while serving as a clinical and scientific resource for healthcare professionals and hospital decision influencers.
Job Responsibilities:
The Clinical Sales Specialist (CSS) is a virtual-based therapeutic position requiring a strong clinical background, acute care hospital experience, and the ability to engage healthcare professionals in cardiovascular and critical care environments. The primary role of the CSS is to support the educational and training needs of HCPs whether they are new or existing customers. Through virtual means (phone, email, Zoom, etc.), the CSS will deliver clinical/scientific presentations and technical/practical education to Cardiologists, Intensivists/Critical Care Physicians, Hospitalists, Emergency Medicine Physicians, Pharmacists, Nursing leaders/RNs, service line leaders, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and other Health Care Practitioners within cardiovascular and critical care settings.
· Support the educational and training needs of HCPs, including; providing pharmacy and account education; facilitating development and implementation of individual institution needs, protocols, and appropriate scientific exchange.
· Educate clinicians on the clinical benefits and appropriate use of the assigned cardiovascular product in the critical care setting to help support institutional formulary access, protocol adoption, and appropriate product utilization.
· Engage key stakeholders within complex hospital accounts, institutional systems, and IDNs, including department heads, service line leaders, RNs/nursing leaders, floor and ICU directors, hospital pharmacy, administrators, and other decision influencers.
· Partner with health systems and field colleagues to support formulary access, remove barriers to appropriate use, and pull through product utilization within assigned hospitals and IDNs.
· Support adoption and pull-through of institutional and GPO contracts by aligning clinical education and account activity with approved brand strategy, customer needs, and appropriate patient care.
· Successfully complete required therapeutic training and demonstrate competency in communicating information in support of the cardiovascular/critical care area; retain and relay information from relevant publications, journals, and webinars as provided.
· Identify and cultivate relationships with current and prospective KOLs and other prominent health care providers as they relate to cardiovascular treatment pathways, critical care protocols, and hospital systems of care.
· Serve as a key clinical/scientific sales resource to institutional hospital accounts and their respective healthcare stakeholders.
· Accurately respond to complex medical questions from institutional-based health care providers in accordance with approved company guidance for CSSs and all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards using approved content.
· Use data tools, customer insights, and other informational sources to contribute to account strategies and tactics: identify, collect and communicate insights related to hospital protocols, practice trends, and treatment landscape
· Demonstrate account-based education and selling skills, including virtual and group presentations; build relationships in institutions aligned with customer segmentation.
· Develop a complete understanding of the health care delivery system within assigned customers, including physician hierarchy, key pharmacy personnel, clinical nursing staff, formulary/P&T processes, and other decision pathways.
· Collaboratively build account plans with field colleagues and leadership to increase demand, support appropriate patient care, and meet defined qualitative and quantitative objectives.
· Plan and organize activities to ensure regular and consistent coverage of assigned hospitals, IDNs, and key accounts according to a plan of action.
· Document interactions and activities in appropriate databases, retain and submit required expenses, complete administrative tasks in a timely manner, and maintain adherence and compliance with all corporate and industry policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations..
Job Qualifications:
· Bachelor's level degree or equivalent in health sciences (RN, RPh/PharmD, PA, NP, etc.) from an accredited college or university and 5 additional years of clinical experience.
· Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital-based experience; critical care, ICU, ED, CVICU/CCU, cardiology, or hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
· Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiovascular, critical care, or a related acute care therapeutic area is preferred.
· Demonstrated problem-solving skills with strong business acumen.
· Proven ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
· Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including the ability to present to groups of varying sizes in a virtual setting.
· Proven track record of success in establishing relationships with KOLs, key decision makers, and hospital/institutional stakeholders.
· Demonstrated ability to quickly and comprehensively learn new subject areas, disease states, products, and customer environments and effectively communicate that information.
· Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate an understanding of both the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, including hospital systems, IDNs, GPOs, and matrixed selling environments.
· Previous sales, large account management, hospital/institutional, cardiovascular, or critical care experience is a plus.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience. Successful candidates will receive a salary, commission, professional sales training, and experience in pharmaceutical sales.
