Position Summary
The Administrator is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and daily operations of the Adult Day Health Services (ADHS) center. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, participant-centered care while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
The Administrator provides leadership to the interdisciplinary team, promotes a positive culture for participants and employees, supports census growth, and works collaboratively with ownership to achieve operational and financial goals. This individual serves as the face of the center within the community and plays a key role in building relationships with participants, families, referral sources, and community partners.
Minimum Qualifications
The Administrator shall meet the qualifications established under N.J.A.C. 8:43F-3.2, including one of the following:
- A Master's degree from an accredited college or university and at least one year of full-time administrative or supervisory experience in a licensed healthcare facility.
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and at least two years of full-time administrative or supervisory experience in a licensed healthcare facility.
- A current New Jersey Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license and at least one year of full-time administrative or supervisory experience in a licensed healthcare facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of progressive leadership experience in a licensed healthcare setting such as Adult Day Health Services, assisted living, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, home health, or other healthcare organizations.
- Experience with New Jersey Department of Health surveys and regulatory compliance.
- Experience leading interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of healthcare operations, budgeting, staffing, and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated success in census development, community outreach, and relationship building.
Leadership & Operations
- Direct the day-to-day operations of the center.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to all department leaders and staff.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and participant-centered care.
- Ensure adequate staffing to meet participant needs and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-organized environment.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable New Jersey Department of Health regulations governing Adult Day Health Services.
- Prepare for and participate in regulatory surveys and inspections.
- Maintain required policies, procedures, records, and documentation.
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to ensure clinical documentation and participant records meet regulatory standards.
Quality & Risk Management
- Lead the center's Quality Improvement program.
- Monitor quality indicators and implement performance improvement initiatives.
- Oversee incident reporting, emergency preparedness, infection prevention, and risk management activities.
- Promote participant safety and continuous quality improvement throughout the organization.
Staffing & Human Resources
- Recruit, interview, hire, orient, supervise, evaluate, and develop center personnel.
- Promote employee engagement, retention, and professional development.
- Ensure required staff education and annual training requirements are completed.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and maintain open communication throughout the organization.
Census Development & Community Relations
- Partner with ownership to achieve census and financial goals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with physicians, hospitals, care managers, senior organizations, rehabilitation providers, and other community referral sources.
- Participate in networking events, community outreach, and educational presentations.
- Conduct tours and meet with prospective participants and families.
- Support participant enrollment and retention through exceptional customer service.
Financial Management
- Assist with budget planning and expense management.
- Monitor operational performance, staffing efficiency, and resource utilization.
- Oversee purchasing and vendor relationships.
- Review monthly operational reports and communicate key performance indicators to ownership.
Participant & Family Relations
- Promote a participant-centered environment that supports dignity, independence, and quality of life.
- Address participant and family concerns promptly and professionally.
- Encourage family engagement and maintain strong communication throughout the participant's enrollment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to navigate throughout the facility and provide active leadership on the center floor.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to respond appropriately during emergencies.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, and use standard office equipment throughout the workday.
