Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Room team. The RN ER will provide critical care and immediate medical attention to patients experiencing acute health issues. This role requires a strong background in emergency medicine, proficiency with electronic health record systems, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with trauma centers, triage, and diverse patient populations, including pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with disabilities. Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations using advanced clinical knowledge.
- Provide emergency interventions such as airway management, IV infusion, medication administration, suturing, and aseptic technique.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient care and medical records.
- Manage acute pain and infectious disease cases while adhering to infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations.
- Coordinate diagnostic evaluations including laboratory testing, radiology (e.g., CT scans), sonography, and medical imaging procedures.
- Assist with complex procedures such as cardiac catheterization, spinal taps, gastrostomy care, ostomy care, and ventilator management.
- Triage incoming patients efficiently to prioritize care based on severity of condition in compliance with trauma center standards (Level I & II experience preferred).
- Collaborate with physicians and specialists in areas such as cardiology, neurology, geriatrics, behavioral health, hospice & palliative medicine, and neonatal care.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medication administration including injections, nutrition management like tube feeding, and discharge planning.
- Participate in case management activities to ensure continuity of care across inpatient and outpatient settings including post-acute care.
Requirements
- Valid RN license with current state licensure required.
- Minimum of 2 years of ER or emergency medicine experience; trauma center experience highly preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to perform advanced clinical skills including IV insertion/venipuncture, suturing, airway management, ventilator support, and sterile processing.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics (neonatal ventilator), geriatrics (memory & dementia care), patients with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent patient care standards.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
