About Vaccine Vets
Vaxxinity Vets provides accessible preventive veterinary care through high-volume mobile vaccine clinics. Our RVT-led clinic model operates under veterinarian-approved protocols, written authorizations, standing orders, and clearly defined safety and emergency procedures.
We are seeking an experienced California-licensed veterinarian to serve as our Managing Veterinarian and provide clinical leadership, regulatory oversight, protocol review, and scheduled weekend phone coverage.
This position is well suited to an experienced veterinarian seeking a predictable and flexible way to remain professionally involved without returning to a traditional full-time hospital schedule.
Schedule and Work Structure
- Regular weekend availability from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Coverage dates and clinic locations scheduled in advance
- Primarily remote phone coverage for qualifying RVT-led mobile clinics
- No overnight coverage
- No routine surgery, general appointments, or client telemedicine
- One scheduled virtual meeting each week
- Occasional onsite participation when mutually scheduled or legally required
- Administrative staff prepares protocols, records, and authorization documents for veterinarian review
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as Managing Veterinarian or managing licensee for designated Vaxxinity Vets locations.
- Remain quickly and easily available by telephone during assigned RVT-led clinic shifts.
- Provide prompt clinical direction for patient eligibility questions, adverse reactions, dosing concerns, treatment holds, medication errors, emergency transfers, and other matters requiring veterinarian input.
- Direct clinic staff to delay treatment, decline treatment, transfer a patient, or stop clinic operations when clinically appropriate.
- Conduct a weekly virtual meeting to review protocol updates, operational changes, clinical incidents, and quality-improvement opportunities.
- Review, approve, and periodically update vaccine, parasite-control, emergency, patient-screening, and adverse-reaction protocols.
- Review standing orders, formularies, client disclosures, medical-record procedures, and emergency plans.
- Review RVT training materials, competency requirements, quizzes, and training documentation.
- Review the organization’s RVT authorization program and execute required authorizations and assumption-of-risk documents for RVTs personally supervised by the veterinarian.
- Review unusual cases, adverse reactions, medication errors, client complaints, and other clinical concerns.
- Assist with Veterinary Medical Board compliance, inspections, premises permits, and corrective actions when applicable.
- Provide practical guidance that supports a quick, professional, and legally compliant clinic flow.
Required Qualifications
- Active California veterinarian license in good standing
- At least five years of clinical veterinary practice
- Strong knowledge of preventive medicine, vaccination protocols, parasite control, and emergency response
- Experience supervising or collaborating with RVTs
- Ability to remain reliably available during assigned weekend coverage hours
- Strong clinical judgment and clear written and verbal communication
- Comfortable reviewing electronic records and communicating by phone, text, email, and video meeting
- Review clinical protocols, standing orders, and RVT authorization documents
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-volume vaccine clinics, mobile clinics, shelter medicine, community medicine, or preventive-care programs
- Familiarity with California’s RVT-agent and VCPR requirements
- Experience developing or reviewing clinical protocols and staff training programs
- Previous experience as a managing licensee, medical director, practice owner, or supervising veterinarian
- Interest in a stable, long-term, limited-scope leadership position
Compensation
Monthly compensation ranges from $2,500 to $3,500, depending on:
- Veterinary and leadership experience
- Number of managed locations
- Number of scheduled weekend coverage shifts
- Expected clinic volume
- Final administrative and clinical responsibilities
The final agreement will clearly define the number of locations, coverage schedule, included meetings, response expectations, and scope of work.
Pay: $2,500.00 - $3,500.00 per month
