The Christian County Prosecuting Attorney's Office is seeking an experienced attorney to join our team as a Senior Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned prosecutor or litigation attorney who is committed to public service and the pursuit of justice. The successful candidate will independently manage a felony and/or misdemeanor caseload, provide sound legal advice to law enforcement agencies, negotiate plea agreements, prepare and argue motions, conduct bench and jury trials.
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri and in good standing with the Missouri Bar, or eligible for admission by reciprocity if applicable.
- Minimum of five (5) years of criminal prosecution, criminal defense, or comparable litigation experience preferred. Exceptional candidates with other significant courtroom experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated trial experience and strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities, and work effectively with law enforcement, victims, witnesses, and court personnel.
- Must also be able to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screening, and participate in random drug testing
Preferred Qualifications
- Significant felony prosecution experience.
- Experience supervising or mentoring attorneys or legal staff.
- Experience using PROSECUTOR by Karpel or another electronic case management system.
Work Environment
A flexible hybrid or remote work arrangement may be considered for highly qualified candidates whose experience and work history demonstrate the ability to successfully manage responsibilities with limited on-site supervision. Regular in-person court appearances, meetings, and other official duties will require travel to Christian County as needed.
