Overview
Exterior Perfections is a growing residential outdoor living contractor specializing in luxury patio covers, pergolas, louvered roof systems, sunrooms, and other exterior home improvement projects throughout California.
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Permit & CAD Coordinator to manage project drafting, permit submissions, plan revisions, and coordination with city building departments.
This position is ideal for someone who understands residential construction, can read plans confidently, and enjoys working with local jurisdictions to move projects from contract to construction.
The Permit Coordinator will be responsible for creating and modifying construction drawings, preparing permit packages, submitting permits through city portals, tracking permit progress, and responding to plan check corrections.
The ideal candidate has experience with residential permitting, AutoCAD, construction drawings, and California building departments.
Drafting & Plan Preparation
- Create site plans and permit drawings using AutoCAD
- Modify manufacturer drawings for project-specific requirements
- Prepare permit-ready plan sets
- Generate plot plans using satellite imagery, surveys, and property information
- Coordinate drawings with structural engineers when required
- Review plans for completeness before submission
Permit Management
- Submit permit applications through city and county portals
- Prepare and organize permit documentation packages
- Track permit status and approval timelines
- Communicate with building departments regarding permit requirements
- Respond to plan check comments and correction notices
- Coordinate resubmittals and revisions
Project Coordination
- Work closely with sales representatives and project managers
- Verify project information before permit submission
- Maintain permit tracking logs and project records
- Coordinate with homeowners, HOAs, engineers, and city staff when needed
- Ensure projects move efficiently from sale to construction
Qualifications (Required)
- AutoCAD experience
- Ability to read architectural and structural plans
- Strong computer and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Residential construction experience
- California permitting experience
- Experience with patio covers, pergolas, sunrooms, or similar structures
- Bluebeam Revu experience
- Experience with city permitting portals
- Knowledge of California residential building codes

- Competitive hourly wage or salary based on experience

What Success Looks Like
- Within the first 90 days, this person will:
- Independently prepare permit packages
- Successfully submit permits to multiple jurisdictions
- Track permits without supervision
- Communicate effectively with city staff and engineers
- Help reduce project delays and improve permit turnaround times

Pay: $6,000.00 - $8,000.00 per month
