BAUSS Manufacturing Inc. designs and builds high-quality custom trailers for municipalities, government agencies, utility companies, contractors, rental companies, and commercial customers. Every trailer is built in-house at our Murrieta, California facility. Because our products are custom-built rather than mass-produced, no two projects are exactly alike.
We are looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Technician who enjoys working with metal, mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical, and general assembly. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in building a finished product from the ground up.
Summary/Objective
The Trailer Manufacturing Technician is responsible for assisting in the fabrication, assembly, installation, and finishing of custom trailers. Daily responsibilities may include welding and metal fabrication, plumbing, electrical installation, trailer assembly, component installation, and final quality inspection.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, works well with their hands, enjoys solving problems, and is willing to learn multiple aspects of the manufacturing process.
Essential Functions
- Fabricate and assemble trailer frames and structural components.
- Perform MIG welding and metal fabrication as required.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, measurements, and production instructions.
- Install trailer components including doors, windows, cabinets, tanks, pumps, sinks, hardware, and accessories.
- Install plumbing systems using PVC, PEX, fittings, valves, and related components.
- Install and troubleshoot basic 12V and 120V electrical systems, lighting, switches, outlets, and related components.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, saws, drills, presses, and other fabrication equipment safely.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials using forklifts or other shop equipment when authorized.
- Perform final fit, finish, adjustments, and quality inspections before delivery.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Communicate production issues, material shortages, or quality concerns to supervisors.
- Assist with other manufacturing tasks as business needs require.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in fabrication, manufacturing, trailer assembly, RV manufacturing, automotive, construction trades, or a related hands-on field.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Experience using common hand and power tools.
- Ability to accurately read tape measures and follow shop drawings or written instructions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding manufacturing environment.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:
- MIG welding
- Metal fabrication
- Trailer manufacturing
- Plumbing installation
- 12V or 120V electrical systems
- Cabinet installation or finish carpentry
- Hydraulic systems
- Forklift operation
- Press brake or sheet metal fabrication
- RV, utility body, specialty vehicle, or heavy equipment manufacturing
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position is performed in a manufacturing facility. Employees regularly work around welding equipment, fabrication machinery, power tools, dust, noise, and moving equipment. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
Physical Demands
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, and climb.
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Use hand and power tools throughout the workday.
- Perform overhead and confined-space work when assembling trailers.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time on-site position. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Travel
Minimal travel may be required for this position, such as assisting with field repairs or product installations.
